Back to Basics for Future Tech CEO Bob Venero

Budding Entrepreneurs Take Tips from the Top at Stony Brook Boot Camp

March 12, 2008  HOLBROOK, NY --- It was back to basics for Bob Venero, CEO of Future Tech Enterprise, Inc., as he addressed a class of budding entrepreneurs at Stony Brook University’s Charles F. Wang Center on March 7, offering his expertise as one of Long Island’s most celebrated business success stories.

The audience was comprised of first-time and serial entrepreneurs, graduate and MBA students, attorneys, technology transfer professionals, and professors who are teaming together to help launch six different businesses.

Moderated by Professor Mark Wilson of Initiatives Consulting, the talk show format featured three prominent entrepreneurs who spoke about their companies, how they were started, and how they continue to be successful. The second half of the session included audience questions about everything related to launching a business: capital investment, choosing “best of breed” staff, unforeseen challenges and setbacks, and formulating a viable business plan.

“The three most important things you need to keep the momentum going is getting validation from your peers and potential customers, getting funding up front from your top supporters, and formulating a solid business plan that remains flexible to changing market needs,” explained Mr. Venero, who stressed passion and perseverance as two common traits among all entrepreneurs. “But the most important thing to remember – aside from separating your business from your family life – is that everything ties to sales; use your sales, marketing and networking skills to strengthen your hold in the industry you’ve chosen, and be sure to readjust your goals as you grow.”

A true entrepreneurial success story, Mr. Venero started Future Tech in the basement of his Long Island home a decade ago. The company has enjoyed a staggering 2100% revenue growth rate over the past four years, earning it a coveted place among Long Island’s top 10 fastest growing companies for five consecutive years. Future Tech is regularly recognized for its dedication to its partners, and was recently declared HP’s #1 Growth Partner. Mr. Venero – who was featured on the cover of VARBusiness when Future Tech was chosen 2005 VAR of the Year by CMP Media -- frequently speaks at industry events and functions. He was most recently a presenter at the Long Island Technology Hall of Fame Awards, where Future Tech awarded scholarships to high school inductees.
