Pay it Forward: Future Tech Supports Navarro College’s “Ticket-to-Ride” Scholarship |

The Best Way to Thank Those Who Have Helped in Your Success is to Continue the Act
March 12, 2008 HOLBROOK, NY --- “How did you know when you truly made it?” a budding entrepreneur asked Bob Venero, president and CEO of Future Tech Enterprise, Inc. during a recent lecture series at Stony Brook University. His reply: “I knew I finally became successful when I was able to give back to others, to pay it forward in the purest sense of that phrase,” said Mr. Venero.
To the delight of the audience, Mr. Venero told of a recent trip to Navarro College in Corsicana, TX, where the annual Theme of Excellence raises money for scholarships, faculty professional development, and the acquisition of instructional equipment. This year’s theme was the Orient Express, with the venue transformed into a train station and dining cars. A highlight of the event was the presentation of a scholarship titled, “A Ticket to Ride,” and in keeping with the event’s theme, Mr. Venero encouraged the recipients to “pay it forward.”
“There will no doubt be times when you are struggling and times when everything is moving along very smoothly,” said Mr. Venero. “The best way to thank those who have helped you along with way is to help someone else; that’s called ‘paying it forward,’ and the rewards of your actions will come back to you in spades.” Mr. Venero then handed each attendee DVDs of the movie Pay it Forward featuring Helen Hunt and Kevin Spacey.
Scholarship recipients were Sarah Springer, a current Navarro student, and Courtney Vandiver, a recent graduate of Ennis High School who will enroll at Navarro College in the fall. In addition to the scholarship, each also received a laptop computer provided by Future Tech Enterprise of Holbrook, NY.
“We are pleased to have special friends in Corsicana, as well as corporate sponsors from all over the United States, like Future Tech’s Bob Venero, who help make Elegance a truly special event,” said Tommy Stringer, executive director of the Navarro College Foundation. “Their generosity enables us to help students achieve their academic goals.”
