LI Fight for Charity Thrills Over a Thousand Spectators and
Raises Much Needed Funds for Local Organizations
HOLBROOK, NY November 25, 2008 - Many companies strive to make a difference in their communities, but how many CEOs would actually step into the boxing ring to fight for charity? Future Tech CEO Bob Venero accepted the challenge and prevailed in the Long Island Fight for Charity at the Hilton on November 24, 2008.
Taking the ring as "The Humanitarian Hitman," Bob Venero's hard work, strength, and dedication paid off as he fought CPA and marathon runner Scott Guber at the fight. Dancing, jabbing and throwing strong punches, Venero dominated the match and walked away a champion.
But winning the match wasn't the only victory at the fight that night. More than 40 charities benefited from this year's event, including the Genesis School, the Long Island Community Chest, and Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. Every match that night made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of families on Long Island. Venero donated $20,000 to the cause.
"I wanted to participate in something that brought people together to make a difference in our communities," Venero explained, "And our efforts ended in success. Fighting Guber was a thrill, but you could feel the energy no matter where you stood; whether you were in the ring or at the back of the room."
Venero plans to participate in a second charity boxing match in March, this time against Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael Lohan. For more information or to read Venero's training log, visit www.BobTheHitman.com.
