Virginia Designates Future Tech Services, Inc. as SWaM Certified

Through Strategic Partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers, Future Tech Can Now Help Local Organizations Meet State-Mandated SWaM Requirements
HOLBROOK, NY December 17, 2008 - The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Minority Business Enterprise (DMBE) has awarded Future Tech Services, Inc. a SWaM certification in the ‘Small' category.
SWaM is Virginia Governor Timothy Kaine's initiative to help grow and sustain Small, Women- and Minority-Owned (SWaM) businesses by ensuring a level playing field for businesses of all sizes. A "Small" business is defined as one with fewer than 250 employees or gross receipts of $10 million or less averaged over the previous three years.
Future Tech is an information technology (IT) integrator that partners with numerous original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to help organizations meet their strategic goals. "We are pleased that Future Tech has been certified as a SWaM by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and that Governor Kaine's commitment to small businesses will help create new opportunities for our partners and clients," said Future Tech CEO Bob Venero, an entrepreneur who started Future Tech in his basement 12 years ago. "This certification places us in the company of many respectable organizations who are trying to succeed in a competitive environment," he added. "We're looking forward to working with local entities to help them meet their SWaM requirements in Virginia."
According to Executive Order 33, the governor set forth a 40 percent goal of purchases from SWaMs for the Commonwealth, giving preference to organizations identified by the SWaM designation. The order targets various procurement agents of state agencies, public entities, and private corporations. An online SWaM database can be found at www.dmbe.virginia.gov and includes company contact information as well as a description of products and services.
Organizations who wish to speak to a Future Tech account representative in Virginia can contact Mary Zdanius at mzdanius@ftei.com or 804.205.2333. Additional information can be found on Future Tech's Web site at www.ftei.com.
